Connect power backup to the OBDII connector on the vehicle. Go step 4 after first green light. It is bad connection or unavailable detection when you cant' see the first green light. Connect spare power.(9V or 12V battery are both available) 12V battery is recommended. Make sure there are 2 green lights, the red light means the capacity of spare power is not enough. Close all doors. Replace the battery.
